I went to Music Expo this last week end.

It was organized by Loic Maestracci (and all his staff) at the Midway, and it was the best Music Expo I attended. Looking forward for the one next year!

I spent most of my time in the immersive room. BZ did a very nice presentation, bringing one of his latest Pro-Tools Atmos sessions. I like his approach: an Atmos release is given when you book him, unless the artist says no (opt-out, not opt-in). I got some tips on how to better release my music: how to make a good stereo version from the Atmos master.

It was also interesting to discuss with him why he made some audio engineering choices.

Then Michael Romanowski, Matt Boudreau and John Merchant did a listening session, and they asked if anyone had something to listen to. So thanks again for playing the track “Post Truth” I made with BacProp. We made the music together, conceived for Atmos from the beginning but he had to trust me for this Atmos version. As you may have noticed I loaded the LFE in that track (If you want to listen to more of my noise: https://www.submithub.com/link/franck-martin-discovery-pack ).

And it was awesome to listen to some of their production and get some tips.

There was an impromptu talk on Eclipsa by Jan Skoglund. I have been following this format for a while, but still looking on how to make an immersive video on YouTube using this. We spoke and I went to see his band at Winters.

Finally, It was great to have Marcela Rada. She came from London. I have been following her on Instagram for a while, there are not many immersive audio engineers with an active social presence.
