Is SPAM a Nutritional Supplement?

Published 3 October 2014 · Last updated 4 September 2026 · Author: Franck Martin

I recently started to watch John Oliver show, Last Week Tonight. I found this show aired on 22nd June: Dr. Oz and Nutritional Supplements

But let's go back a bit, you all have received this type of email or advertisement on "miracle pills", like reported here on the 24th April 2014: http://www.welivesecurity.com/2014/04/24/twitter-awash-in-miracle-diet-pills-spam-onslaught/ or here on the 2nd October 2014: http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/hacked-snapchat-accounts-use-native-chat-feature-spread-diet-pill-spam or more older on the 11th July 2012 http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2012/07/11/hacked-email-accounts-unleash-weight-loss-spam/

Just to say this spam is common, not new and affect everyone... As you see in the reports above, this is also a security issue.

Even Dr Oz himself is not happy about the state of affairs. People are using his name as reported here on 12th August 2014 http://blog.spamfighter.com/anti-spam-2/dr-oz-spam.html

Which is why you should watch this interesting segment on 29th April 2014: http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/dr-oz-takes-down-scammers-using-his-name-dupe-you

So now rewatch the John Oliver show and tell me how this type of SPAM can be fought?
